Grass' wild-child cousin, Esther is an evergreen - or, rather, everblue - plant that keeps her amazing azure colour throughout the year. We love that her dome-shaped, porcupine-like foliage instantly adds a jolt of brilliant colour - just put her next to your other green friends and she'll take your garden from a 6 to a 10. As well as being exceptionally easy to look after, she's also a super slow grower (no more than 10cm per year), making her perfect for a confined space.

HOW TO CARE FOR ESTHER (BLUE FESCUE)
Esther is a sun-worshipper, so the more the better - try to put her in a spot that gets lots of light. It's totally normal for her colour to fade a bit in winter, but if this happens in summer, then she's probably not getting enough light.
She's happy in most soils, as long as they drain well - our multi-purpose compost will work perfectly.
She likes her soil to remain moist, so give her a drink if her compost feels dry between rainfalls. Be mindful of the fact that her spread can sometimes prevent water from reaching the soil.
Going the extra mile
Give her three inches of bark mulch or other organic materials in spring so that her soil retains its moisture.
